Dear Parents / Carers,
As communicated via an email letter previously, school is expecting to be affected by National Strike Action by the NEU on Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May. We are unable to confirm which classes will/will not be affected until tomorrow morning as striking teachers are not required to inform school until the day of the strikes themself. Parents of affected classes will be texted as early as possible tomorrow morning to enable you to action alternative childcare plans. Classes of teachers who are not striking are expected in school as normal.
If you receive a text tomorrow regarding your child’s class being closed, please see below for the recommended home learning tasks for strike day. Page numbers refer to you child’s Collins homework book:
Year 3
English-pages 32-33
Reading-pages 74-75
Maths-pages 64-65
Please also continue to read with your child and work through their spellings with them.
Year 4
Maths pages 62-63
Reading-pages 76-77
Writing-pages 54-57
Timestable book – 7 times tables pages 30-31
Please support your child to continue practising their times tables and specifically the ones that they currently find challenging.
If your child is entitled to a free school meal and requires a packed lunch to be made for collection from school, please follow the online forms link which will be sent to you in the morning. The kitchen will then prepare a lunchtime grab bag which can be collected from the main school office at midday.
The strike reflects teachers concerns with education funding and pay conditions nationally. We thank parents for your cooperation and support.
